VILLAGE OF PRENTICE
PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
January 23, 2014
PRESIDENT SCHMIDT CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 5:30 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT: BUD KALANDER, JOE MORITZ, CONNIE WATERMAN, AND HOWARD HEIKKINEN.
JIM AND GAIL OKRASINSKI, THE NEW OWNERS OF THE FORMER PARK SIDE MOTEL LOCATED AT 723 RAILROAD AVENUE, WERE PRESENT.
JIM AND GAIL WOULD LIKE TO TURN THE MOTEL INTO PERMANENT LIVING UNITS. THEY STATED THEY PLAN TO DO SOME REMODELING TO GET AWAY FROM THE COMMERCIAL LOOK.
THE PROPERTY IS CURRENTLY ZONED C-2 (CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICT) WHICH ALLOWS APARTMENTS AS A SECONDARY USE ON A NON-GROUND FLOOR LEVEL, UNLESS A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT IS ISSUED. IF A CONDITIONAL PERMIT IS ISSUED THAT WOULD ALLOW APARTMENTS ON THE GROUND LEVEL.
THEY WOULD ALSO LIKE TO MOVE THE HOUSE FROM THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE MOTEL TO THE NORTH SIDE. THIS WOULD DEPEND ON THE LOCATION OF THE STORM SEWER AND THE EXPENSE OF MOVING IT. ANOTHER OPTION THEY ARE LOOKING AT IS PUTTING A NEW BASEMENT UNDER IT.
THEY ARE LOOKING AT HAVING THE PROJECT FINISHED BY MID-SUMMER.
THE BOARD ENCOURAGED THEM TO HAVE THE PROPERTY SURVEYED TO FIND OUT EXACTLY WHERE THE PROPERTY LINES ARE LOCATED.
MOTION BY WATERMAN, SECOND BY KALANDER TO RECOMMEND TO THE VILLAGE BOARD TO ISSUE A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT TO JIM AND GAIL OKRASINSKI FOR THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 723 RAILROAD AVE., WITH THE RECOMMENDATION TO HAVE THE PROPERTY LINES SURVEYED. CARRIED
MOTION BY HEIKKINEN, SECOND BY WATERMAN TO ADJOURN THE MEETING. CARRIED
